Healthy Body, Healthy Mind

New To Yoga?

Yoga Is Simple

It is about taking care of your physical and mental well being. Moving through practice, being mindful of how it feels in your body, working each pose to the degree that is best for you, while breathing calmly. How far to take a pose is a personal choice. Your breath is a good measure, can you breath calmly? Or, does breath become fast or shallow? Through the physical poses the challenge is to stay with the calm breath, and let nothing interrupt the steady stream of breath.

Do What You Can

Come to class and simply do what your body will. Take rest as you need to. Sit on your mat, or take childs pose. If the heat in the room is too much, take a break. If are overwhelmed feel free to step out and get fresh air and come back to the mat when you are ready.

Wear Clothes That Stay Put

So can concentrate on balance, your breath, and the pose at hand.

Bare Feet

There are cubicles to put your shoes and other items upon entering the studio. If you must wear socks that is fine, but it does make gripping the mat a bit more difficult. If have issues with feet, and adequate support, please speak with one of our teachers.

Yoga Mat

You will need one of these, or can rent one at the studio for $3. If would like recommendations on purchasing a mat please speak with one of our teachers.

Bring A Towel And Water

If your forget we do have water for sale at the studio for $1. Towel rental is available upon request.

Do Not Eat Before Practice

Twisting and bending on a full stomach can be very uncomfortable. Should be at least 2 hours between meal time and practice. If must eat close to practice time, keep to a small amount, and something that is not hard to digest.

Hydrate

It is important for your body to be properly hydrated before class. Also be kind to yourself after class, and make sure to restore with proper hydration.
